15 September, 2008 (07:10) | Cars

Every salesperson knows the pitfalls of the sales job. You have to be able to gain helpful information by asking your potential customers good questions and have smart, sensible answers for the questions asked about the products you are selling.

Tip-don’t pressurize the customer and lose the sale. Are you surprised?! Yes, be relaxed , ask questions , be friendly, not pushy. Have good, positive conversations with your clients, and be helpful . Truly help your customers, and sales will improve. Your customers will appreciate your time and interest.

Tip-get the customer to talk about themselves. Be interested in them, and find out why they are buying a vehicle. You can link the knowledge that you have about the customer to the vehicle they might buy. This will build a relationship and build trust.

Tip-talk with your management staff to learn how to overcome objections. These are just opportunities to turn lemons into lemonaid, turn negatives into positives. Yours experienced sales staff has probably already heard all the excuses and already made mistakes and have been successful, and can help you smooth over objections.

You will never be successful in sales if you take the people who donat buy to heart. It may have had nothing at all to do with anything you did or didnat do or say. Some people just will not be buying a car. At the same time, you want to treat each customer as if they were going to buy nine cars. Have the same enthusiasm, and stay on your toes. Sales is a numbers game, and you have to play to sell.

Not prejudging clients is one thing that everyone should know, if they want to learn how to sell for the car salesperson. If someone comes up flashing expensive jewelry, and looks like they have money to spend, they should not be treated any differently than the guy in overalls and who smells a little. You never know who is going to buy what, or if they will at all. Prejudging is a quick way to kill your numbers game and cheat you out of potential sales.

Don’t be a sad sack and come to work with a bad attitude, because of problems at home. Be positive, smile, act and be pleasant. This will go a long way to connect with the customers and create a positive atmosphere

In conclusion, for anyone who wants to know how to sell for the car salesperson, follow these tricks. You do not need pressure to sell, you do need trust, overcome negatives, play the numbers game, donat prejudge, and have a great attitude. If you follow these tricks, you will be selling more cars than ever before.
