The truth about the matter is that gas prices will only continue to rise so saving gas is becoming a necessity these days. Anyone who doesn’t look for ways to save gas will only be doing themselves a great disfavor, and their finances will suffer as a result.

In the course of driving, if you jackrabbit too often your car will lose gas. An inconsistent road speed can cause you to spend more cash buying extra gas which you could have saved if you had maintained a constant speed.

Did you know that using your car air conditioner all the time is one big way that you can use more gas than is necessary? Putting on and using your air conditioner places an extra demand for gas on your car and makes you use up gas more than you should. To save gas you should switch off you air conditioner when it’s not really needed.

You can save gas by adding a good fitting gas cap for your gas tank. More gas is lost to ill fitting gas caps than it is to evaporation. If the cap of your gas tank fits it too loosely, get one that does fit in order to save gas.

Some people think that warming up a car after you put it on helps it. In reality, warming your car for over five minutes is idling; and idling with your car is a fast way of wasting gas.

If you leave your air conditioner on when you are driving, you are bound to place an extra demand on your car which it will meet by burning extra gas. To save gas therefore, turn the air conditioner in your car on only when the windows are wound up so as to avoid any extra demand to consume gas.

Gas caps are a vital part of a car’s constitution that are often taken for granted by car drivers. The department of energy reveals that seventeen percent of cars that are on the road have ill fitting gas caps. A poorly fitted gas cap can cost you gas loss and sabotage your attempts to save gas.

Gas prices are going to continue rising whether we like it or not. If you want to combat gas prices effectively, you should strive to use your car less by walking, riding or taking the bus once in a while. The neighborhood carpool can also help you save extra costs on gas.
