Better Gas Mileage

Anyone who knows anything about cruiser motorbikes knows the name Harley Davidson. This internationally recognized name has been associated with the motorbike industry from as early as the 1900’s, where creators William Harley and Arthur Davidson first thought of making a cruiser motor-bicycle.

Those who aren’t familiar with the type of bike that Harley Davidson has become to be known as should know that Harleys are considered to be “easy riders.” These style of motorbikes value a smooth ride for highway usage over adrenaline-filled stunts or off-road adventures. This mindset appeals to many older adults, although younger generations have been known to get in on the fun.

The name Harley Davidson has had a poor reputation in American history, as popular biking gangs such as Hell’s Angels became notorious for riding such bikes. The belief that only bike gang members owned Harleys quickly passed, however, as future generations found out that one can’t stereotype riders that appreciate a smooth and invigorating ride that other bikes can’t provide.

Harley owners are fairly fanatical about their machines, as they very well should be. It is now popular to have cosmetic makeovers for stock Harley motorcycles, where additions are made to make each Harley reflect the personality or creativity of the rider. These custom motorcycles can easily costs tens of thousands of dollars in additional costs, but as the trends show, it is a very popular course of action for anyone who can afford the Harley in the first place.

Although public perception remains that a Harley is going to be an easy riding machine no matter what, different models have shown that Harleys can break the mold. A Harley Sportster, for example, is able to perform better than similar models under certain circumstances. The Dyna is another variation that shows that a Harley can also have pure brute force, with the big-twin engine being featured as a powerhouse of a propelling force.

Getting a nostalgic or modern-looking Harley is a tough choice, especially since most Harleys in production today can cater to both taste palettes. Older-styled bikes can be seen in modern Softail designs, while newer VRSC models will show a different side of the Harley Davidson name that few will associate with past models.

Final Thoughts

The Harley name has been around for many decades- surviving over a century of different times. The name will continue as the craftmanship and high production value continues to live on in the future generations of Harley customers and clients.
